Colva beach is one of those beaches in this small Indian state of Goa that is developing at a very good pace. Colva Beach which is usually less crowded lies about 6 Kms to the west of Margao. With 20 km of virgin white sands, palm fringed, and sun drenched beaches, Colva is the most loved beach of Goans. The beach extends to Bogmalo in the north and Cabo de Rama in the south along south Goa\'s coastline. In the colonial period it used to be the retreat for Margao\'s high society, who would come to Colva for their change of air. The trinket stalls and the drink stands on the golden sands under the moonlight make the evening on the Colva Beach utterly romantic. While taking a stroll around Colva beach you could see the silver sand paved with shimmering mackerels. Fishermen’s motor trawlers can be seen anchored in a line offshore. Water sports on Colva beach comprises mainly of jet skiing and speed boat rides. Swimming is relatively safe here.In April, Colva hosts a music and dance festival, Beach Bonanza, from mid- April. Fama de Menino Jesus is a feast day held on the second Monday in October when the Menino Jesus (a statue of the infant Jesus said to perform miracles) is paraded. |
